SUB announces Saturday Night Live's Colin Jost as spring comedian 

The "Weekend Update” co-anchor will perform Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 8 p.m. in McCrary Theatre.

The Student Union Board wastes no time jumping back to what they do best, announcing its annual comedy show of Spring Semester: Saturday Night Live comedian Colin Jost, who is slated to perform on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 8 p.m. in McCrary Theatre.

Colin Jost returns for his third season as co-anchor of SNL’s “Weekend Update,” alongside fellow cast member Michael Che. Jost joined the cast as “Weekend Update” co-anchor on March 1, 2014. Jost had served as co-head writer of SNL since 2012 and as a staff writer since 2005.

He has won three Writers Guild Awards, a Peabody Award and has been nominated for multiple Emmy Awards for his writing on SNL. He also wrote and starred in the Paramount & Netflix film, “Staten Island Summer,” based on his days as a lifeguard growing up in New York.

Jost is a Staten Island native and Harvard graduate.

Jost adds to the history of Saturday Night Live talent who have visited Elon in the past few years including Nasim Pedrad (2013) and Kate McKinnon (2014). 

SUB Performance Committee Chair Taylor Obzud is looking forward to the event and supporting SUB’s mission to provide students with a variety of entertaining programs. “We are very lucky to be able to provide students with some of the best entertainment in the industry,” Obzud said. Colin Jost has an impressive track record, and I believe he has the potential to be the next SNL breakout star from an impressive list of past cast members.”

Free tickets will be available starting on Monday, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. on a first come, first serve basis and can be picked up with a Phoenix Card in the SUB office (Moseley 207) while supplies last. One ticket per Phoenix Card. 

Jost joins a line-up of numerous events SUB has planned for the coming months on campus. Spring Semester is looking like another successful run for SUB as they kick off the first weekend, hosting the inaugural casino-themed “FNL” (Friday Night Live) event at the Tap House.

With more than $700 in prizes, the event will run from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. and include professional dealers, free food, and a cash bar.
