Poulson, Cardwell earn top award for paper at accounting conference

A paper by Linda Poulson, associate professor of accounting, and Paula Cardwell, instructor in accounting, has won the Best Paper Award at the ninth annual Symposium on Ethics in Accounting in Orlando, Fla.

Their paper, titled “The Characteristics of Independence for Audit Committees: Contrary Evidence,” was chosen for the award out of 48 papers accepted at the symposium. Editors of the Research on Professional Responsibility and Ethics in Accounting journal have asked Poulson and Cardwell to submit the paper for consideration by their publication.

Poulson and Cardwell received plaques in honor of their work. The symposium is held immediately prior to the American Accounting Association’s annual meeting.
