The assistant professor of sport and event management tackled a variety of topics during two March presentations, covering student leadership development as well as the importance of resiliency and renewal.

Cara McFadden, an assistant professor in Elon University’s Department of Sport and Event Management, co-presented at the annual conference hosted by NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, discussing the development of student leadership through recreation and athletics.
Joined by co-presenter Stacey Hall of the University of New Hampshire, McFadden led a presentation titled, “New Directions for Student Leadership: Leadership Development in Recreation and Athletics.” McFadden and Hall have collaborated on several occasions, including on a 2015 book the Elon professor co-edited.
NASPA, the leading association for the advancement, health and sustainability of the student affairs profession, held its conference March 12-16 in Indianapolis.
In addition, McFadden spoke on campus at Elon University’s March 17 Numen Lumen event, billed as a “moment to break, breathe and enjoy community reflection and refreshments.” During her 13-minute talk, McFadden had attendees reflect on their sense of relationships, respect, responsibility, resilience and renewal in regards to community.
