Planning Week activities begin August 23

Faculty and staff will put the final touches on preparations for the 2004-2005 academic year during Planning Week activities, scheduled Aug. 23-27. Details...

The week begins with the presentation of Elon Medallions and an address by President Leo M. Lambert at 8:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 23 in McCrary Theatre. New faculty and staff will be introduced during the session.

Other highlights of the week include a reception for new faculty and staff at the president’s home on Monday evening and a picnic for all faculty and staff from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesday in the area surrounding Moseley Center.

Throughout the week, schools, colleges and academic departments will hold planning meetings. Faculty members will share their latest research with colleagues during two sessions at 8:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. A special College Coffee will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in front of the new Ella Darden and Elmon Lee Gray Pavilion to welcome new faculty and staff.

Faculty and staff are asked to wear the name tags they received in their Planning Week packets to all activities.

Freshmen will arrive on campus Friday, Aug. 27 for orientation activities. The new student Convocation will be held Under the Oaks at 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 28. The first day of classes is Tuesday, Aug. 31.
