Campus disaster training exercise set for Wednesday, July 27

A simulated accident will be part of an emergency exercise planned for South Campus on Wednesday morning.

Elon University Campus Safety and Police and the university’s emergency response team will join emergency responders from the Town of Elon and Alamance County in dealing with a simulated accident. The training exercise will take place from 7:30 a.m until 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27. The accident will include actors who will have simulated injuries.

The simulated accident will be held in the parking lot on South Campus, south of the R.N. Ellington Health and Wellness Center. A staging area for police, fire and EMT vehicles will be at the parking lot south of the East Gym on main campus. There will be no flashing lights or sirens used during the exercise.

The exercise is part of ongoing efforts to plan for effective responses to a variety of emergency situations on campus and in the surrounding community. The Town of Elon received a state grant to help cover costs of the training exercise.
