Elon University is hosting an interfaith gathering for the 15th anniversary of 9/11 for the campus and wider community on this Sunday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. in the Sacred Space of the Numen Lumen Pavilion. The event is being organized by the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life and will include religious leaders from the local area.
The purpose of the event is to remember the lives lost, to pray for all those affected by the events of 9/11 and to look forward to the future as we commit ourselves to repairing the world together. We will also acknowledge the first responders who died, those who worked tirelessly in the aftermath and those who continue to put their lives on the line our community. The service will include prayers of lament and reconciliation from multiple traditions, as well as an invitation to work together for mutual understanding, peace and reconciliation in our community.
The event is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend. If you have any questions, please contact the Truitt Center at (336) 278.7729.
