The Martha and Spencer Love School of Business welcomed new full-time faculty members in accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing and management information systems.
Eight full-time faculty members joined the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business in August 2016, bringing the school’s total number of full-time faculty to 58.
“I am delighted to welcome our new colleagues to Elon University,” said Raghu Tadepalli, dean of the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business. “I am sure they will contribute to the success of our students while at the same time laying the groundwork for their own successful careers.”
The new faculty members:
Kevin S. Agnew, assistant professor of accounting
B.S., Business Administration, Appalachian State University; Ph.D., Business Administration – accounting, University of South Florida; Certified Public Accountant; Certified Information Systems Auditor.
Professional experience: Senior audit consultant at Ingersoll Rand; manager at Deloitte and Touche.
Scholarly interests: Accounting information systems, internal controls, decision aids, enterprise risk management, internal and external auditing.
Jongwan (John) Bae, assistant professor of finance
B.S., Economics, American University; M.A., Statistics, Columbia University; Ph.D., Finance, University of California at Irvine.
Formerly an assistant professor of finance at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley.
Scholarly interests: Empirical asset pricing, investments, financial institutions, corporate finance, behavioral finance, corporate social responsibility.
Nawar N. Chaker, assistant professor of marketing
B.S., Electrical Engineering, University of Colorado Boulder; M.B.A., University of Colorado-Denver; Ph.D., Business Administration (Marketing), University of Tennessee.
Professional experience: Marketing, sales, distribution and engineering. Experience primarily in sales at two Fortune 100 companies.
Scholarly interests: Personal selling, sales management and cross-functional sales relationships, specifically understanding the drivers of salesperson performance and factors that contribute to salesperson attraction, retention and attrition.
Joseph Green, lecturer in management information systems

Professional experience: Product manager at Hobsons; senior vice president, senior treasury sales officer at Wells Fargo; senior manager, product consultant-receivables and commercial card at Capital One Financial, Inc.; senior vice president, product management manager at Bank of America.
Elena Kennedy, assistant professor of entrepreneurship
B.S., Business Administration, College of Charleston; M.Ed., Delta State University; Ph.D., Business Administration, University of Massachusetts-Boston.
Professional experience: K-12 educator; Teach For America Corps Professional Development Facilitator.
Scholarly interests: Social value creation in entrepreneurship and mission driven organizations, strategic decision making in socially driven organizations.
Mostafa Mesgari, assistant professor of management information systems

Brandon Sheridan, assistant professor of economics

Formerly an assistant professor of economics at North Central College.
Professional experience: Assistant to the director at the Warrick County Economic Development Department.
Scholarly interests: Economic growth and development, international trade, economic education and pedagogy, public economics, applied time series, panel econometrics.
Pieter Swanepoel, lecturer in accounting
Baccalaureus Procurationis, and Advanced Diploma in Labor Law, University of Johannesburg; M.B.A., Elon University; M.S., Accounting, University of North Carolina at Greensboro; Certified NxLevel Program Instructor; Certified Economic Development Finance Professional.
Formerly an adjunct and limited term professor at Elon University.
Professional experience: Extensive background in law and business, including business counselor at the Small Business & Technical Development Center (SBTDC) at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Kenan Flagler Business School, directing large capital projects for and on behalf of the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa, and practicing law at one of the largest law firms in Johannesburg, South Africa. Current chair of the SBTDC’s Chapel Hill Regional Advisory Board and member of the statewide SBTDC Advisory Board.
