Alamance County same-day voter registration and early voting begins Oct. 20

Students can participate in one-stop early voting from Oct. 20 through Nov. 5. Those not previously registered can register and vote in one trip.

Elon students are encouraged to use the sites at either Holly Hill Mall (309 Huffman Mill Road, Burlington) or the Kernodle Senior Center (1535 S. Mebane St., Burlington) from Oct. 27 through Nov. 5. These two sites will be provided with an official list of Elon on-campus addresses and physical street addresses.

Details can be found on the Alamance County Board of Elections One Stop Early Voting Schedule.

While the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the North Carolina voter identification requirement this past summer, the 2002 Help America Vote Act is still in effect. If you are a new voter in Alamance County and your registration form was not fully verified, you will need to confirm your identity and residence.

Students living on-campus should bring:

  • A valid student photo identification card (Elon Phoenix Card, driver’s license, or other photo identification issued by a government agency) to confirm identity.
  • Note: The Holly Hill Mall and Kernodle Senior Center have a copy of Elon on-campus addresses and physical street addresses. Students can ask a poll worker to verify their campus residence on this copy (students can also print out or show the poll worker a screen shot of their OnTrack Residence Life: MyHousing/Meal Plans screen).

Students living off-campus should bring:

  • A valid student photo identification card (Elon Phoenix Card, driver’s license, or other photo identification issued by a government agency) to confirm identity.
  • A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document showing the voter’s name and current address in Alamance County.

Students can contact the Alamance County Board of Elections at (336) 570-6755 with any questions or concerns.
