The Department of Performing Arts will perform “Brighton Beach Memoirs,” at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday-Saturday, Oct. 6-9, and at 2 p.m., Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 9-10 in the Black Box Theater, located in the Center for the Arts on the Elon University campus. Senior Theater Arts major Brian Nelson will direct the performance.
In this coming-of-age story, set in Brooklyn in 1937, fifteen-year-old Eugene Jerome’s aunt and two cousins have just moved into his house, his mother won’t stay off his back, and his older brother’s life is falling apart. Eugene’s only weapons are his sense of humor and dreams of professional baseball and writing.
Reservations are highly recommended for this performance. Tickets are available for $12 or free for those with valid Elon identification. Reservations can be made by calling the Black Box Theatre reservation line at (336) 278-5650.
