Left to right: Jordan Horton, Michelle Rave, Austin Rivera.On Thursday, Dec. 1, Elon’s chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon (PME), the national mathematics honor society, and Elon Statistics Club co-hosted the 4th Annual Fall Pizza Party, an event that attracted 46 Elon students and faculty and featured a guest lecture by Associate Professor of Mathematics Jim Beuerle.
Beuerle’s interactive lecture, “Magic, Logic, and Puzzles,” engaged audience members in several fun mathematical activities. One of these was a contest to see who could draw the most perfect circle (see photo to the left).
PME advisor Chad Awtrey announced next semester’s events, which include a diverse set of speakers from James Madison University, UNC-Charlotte and Howard University.
