Members of the worldwide Elon community can participate by making a gift to the university and sharing their Elon pride on social media.
On March 7, follow #ElonDay news all day at elon.edu/elonday.
#ElonDay, a 24-hour celebration of pride in the university, is set for Tuesday, March 7. Now in its fourth year, the event encourages engagement and philanthropy of all members in the Elon community around the globe.
The mobile-friendly Elon Day website will be updated throughout the day to include a total of Elon Day gifts in real-time, a live list of donors and interactive leaderboards displaying the academic schools, campus funds and athletic programs receiving support. Gifts of all sizes and designations will count toward the total given during the campaign.
On-campus events include a special College Coffee starting at 9:40 a.m. on Scott Plaza in front of Alamance Building, which will be live streamed. The senior class giving committee will host a “Senior Toast” at 9 p.m. in McKinnon Hall. All students are invited to attend the #ElonDay All-Student Party in the Moseley Center at 10 p.m. with activities including photo booths and a Skee-Ball competition. Alumni chapters will also hold #ElonDay parties in more than 37 locations across the country and in London.
In addition, all members of the university community can use the #ElonDay tag on social media to share and follow the celebration.
“Elon Day is full of energy and excitement. It’s an excellent opportunity for the entire Elon family to come together and celebrate what we value as a community,” said John H. Barnhill ’92, assistant vice president for University Advancement. “Together we make Elon stronger every year!”
Elon Day began in 2014 as part of the university’s 125th anniversary celebration. Last year, donors made 3,749 gifts totaling more than $955,099 in honor of #ElonDay.
#ElonDay also garnered over 4,500 mentions on social media, becoming a nationally trending topic on Twitter and Instagram.
