Elon Academy Assistant Director Jenni Johnson participated on a panel discussing how to support undocumented students in higher education.
Jenni Johnson, Elon Academy’s assistant director of student life and senior scholar support, participated on a panel titled “Supporting Undocumented Students” at the Southern Association of College Admission Counseling (SACAC) annual conference.
The southern association partnered with its Texas and Rocky Mountain affiliates to offer a super conference featuring more than 1,500 college admission counselors, high school counselors and college access advisers from community based organizations.
In the session, Johnson and panelists presented an overview of immigration and education laws, national college admission regulations, and best practices for supporting students who are undocumented. Johnson’s participation was borne out of her contribution to SACAC’s 2016 publication titled “An Educator’s Guide to Post-secondary Policy for Undocumented Students.”
