Barrett Wilbert Weed '11 will play Janis Sarkisian in the Broadway adaptation of the 2004 cult classic.
Music theatre alum Barrett Wilbert Weed ‘11 will be seen portraying Janis Sarkisian in the long-anticipated stage adaptation of Tina Fey’s “Mean Girls.”
The musical is heading to Broadway in the spring — beginning previews March 12, 2018 and opening April 8, 2018 at the August Wilson Theater — following a run at the National Theater in Washington, D.C. from Oct. 31 to Dec. 3. The musical will be set in the present time while featuring the same characters and basic storyline as the 2004 cult classic film.
In 2011, Weed made her Broadway debut in “Lysistrata Jones.” Other notable performances include the Off-Broadway premieres of “Bare: The Musical” as Nadia, and “Heathers” as Veronica Sawyer. She was subsequently nominated for a Drama Desk Award as Outstanding Actress In A Musical for her performance in “Heathers.” In addition to her numerous New York City projects, Weed also starred as Sally Bowles in “Cabaret” at the Signature Theatre in Washington, D.C.
