School of Communications faculty present at BEA conference in Pittsburgh

Associate Dean Don Grady and Associate Professor Vic Costello were among the nearly 100 media educators from around the country to attend the Broadcast Education Association event.

Associate Dean Don Grady and Associate Professor Vic Costello offered their expertise and insight to fellow media educators this month at the Broadcast Education Association’s On-Location Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The annual conference, held Sept. 21-23 at Point Park University, provided participants with professional development training sessions, and an opportunity to promote academic scholarship through research and creative presentations and competitions.

Grady co-conducted an assessment workshop titled “The Steps and Challenges of Doing Assessment,” which focused on creating an assessment plan and establishing student learning outcomes.

During his presentation, Costello detailed his experiences co-leading a 10-day filmmaking workshop in Ethiopia.
​Costello led a presentation titled “Teaching Media in the Developing World,” expounding on the joys and challenges of co-leading a 10-day filmmaking workshop in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in June. Read more about Costello’s experiences in Ethiopia in this June 15 release.
