Belk Library librarians present at NCLA

Belk librarians presented at the N.C Library Association 62nd Biennial Conference held October 17-20.

Dianne Ford, Teresa LePors, Patrick Rudd, Joan Ruelle and Shannon Tennant led an interactive workshop to introduce participants to the high-impact practices and to review each practice through the lens of potential library contributions and partnerships.

Jamane Yeager co-led a hands-on genealogy workshop using databases and archives, as well as family Bibles and oral history.

Lynne Bisko, Ford, Rudd and Tennant presented their diverse experiences with immersion in international and domestic study away programs.

Chrystal Carpenter co-led a session about instruction activities that use active-learning elements and new approaches to primary sources, archival literacy and rare books.

Betty Garrison co-led a workshop on how to answer business research questions, as well as presented a poster about the results of a study about how students attempt data research without instruction from a librarian or faculty member

Carpenter, LePors, Tennant, and Jerry Waller presented on the process that Belk Library used to deaccession materials in our collection.

Vicki Siler co-led a lightning talk about the Zotero citation manager.

Angela Wacker and Rudd presented a poster about how academic libraries can develop collaborative and innovative strategies to support high impact teaching and learning practices.

Bisko presented a poster about a collaboration between Belk Library, the Maker Hub and the Office of Student Life to host after-hours mini-golf in the library.
