The 21-year-old junior from Moseley, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 28.
Friends, family and others touched by the life of 21-year-old Breslin Wiley gathered in the Numen Lumen Pavilion Sunday night to celebrate the Elon junior who died unexpectedly on Saturday at his off-campus home.
They filled the Sacred Space and the adjoining McBride Gathering Space as they shared stories, laughter and tears remembering the Moseley, Virginia, native. Wiley was celebrated by those who knew and loved him for his humor, his friendship, his willingness to meet new people, and a contagious smile.
A member of Elon’s Club Baseball team, Wiley was majoring in engineering physics, with classmates noting his natural aptitude for his studies, and teammates saying he was always willing to share his time, and a laugh. Friends recounted the first time they met him, either in the classroom or out around campus, and said he was a person who brought great joy to their lives through his presence and enthusiasm.
Breslin was the son of Michael and Georgia Wiley, with the family saying Sunday they appreciated the support shown by those who gathered to celebrate Breslin’s life.
Elon Student Life staff members are reaching out to support his roommates, friends, classmates, and faculty members.
