The Elon University graduate and broadcast journalism major began her career as an intern at WFSB-TV in 1995.
The steady rise through the newsroom of WFSB-TV for Dana Neves ’95 continued this week with the CBS affiliate’s parent company, Meredith Corp., announcing on March 22 that she has been promoted to vice president and general manager. The Elon graduate is a veteran of WFSB-TV, Channel 3, having served the Hartford–New Haven television market since landing an internship with the station in 1995.
In the years since, Neves has worked her way up through WFSB-TV as an assignment manager, managing editor and assistant news director. In 2006, she was named news director.
In her new role, she will report to Patrick McCreery, executive vice president of the Meredith’s Local Media Group.
“Dana is an outstanding leader. Her years of experience and dedication to both Channel 3 and Meredith have prepared her to lead this (dominant) No. 1 television station,” said McCreery in a March 22 release. “I look forward to Dana’s continued success and service to our viewers and advertisers in Hartford, New Haven and throughout Connecticut.”
Added Neves, “Our business is ever-changing and I know the dedicated men and women who work here at Channel 3 are committed to changing with the times and maintaining WFSB’s level of excellence. I’m excited to see what the future holds as we work hard to both inform and entertain the people of Connecticut, and continue to grow strong relationships with our clients.”
