Elon community invited to observe Holy Week

Catholic Campus Ministry has invited students, faculty, staff and the community to join in a variety of events marking Holy Week, which begins Sunday, March 25.

Catholic Campus Ministry has extended an invitation to Elon students, faculty, staff and members of the broader community to its lineup of Holy Week and Easter activities.

The observation of Holy Week is one of the most important times of the year for Christians, and it begins this Sunday, March 25, and ends on Easter Sunday, April 1. Please know that individuals, families, and friends of all faiths are invited to participate or just observe. Here is the schedule:

Palm Sunday – March 25
4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – Mass – Elon Community Church

Holy Thursday – March 29
7:30 p.m. – Mass of the Lord’s Supper with washing of the feet – Holt Chapel
8:30 to 9 a.m.- Perpetual Adoration – Holt Chapel

Good Friday – March 30
Noon – Stations of the Cross – Fonville Fountain in Scott Plaza (in front of Alamance Building)
3 p.m. – Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion – Holt Chapel

Easter Sunday – April 1
11 a.m. – Mass – McKinnon Hall (no 4 p.m. or 6 p.m. Masses)
12:30 p.m. – Easter Brunch (ticketed) – upstairs Lakeside Conference Rooms

The Elon community is also invited to CCM’s Easter Brunch immediately following our Easter Sunday Mass! This buffet meal is a ticketed-only event, so please RSVP at http://org.elon.edu/ccm/easter. Suggested donation amounts are $5 for students and $10 for non-students. However, please know you are invited even if you cannot give a donation. All donations will be collected at the check-in table (you can use a card, check, or cash). The deadline to RSVP is Wednesday, March 28, at 5 p.m.

There are also several opportunities to actively participate in the Holy Week activities. CCM needs volunteers to have their feet washed at the Holy Thursday Mass and to be a reader at the Good Friday Stations of the Cross. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please email Trung Huynh-Duc, director of Catholic Campus Ministry, at tduc@elon.edu.
