Elon’s first Latin American Documentary Film Series will include two feature-length documentaries as well as a selection of short films by Peruvian Artistic Organization DocuPerú. The selected films discuss some of the most pressing social conflicts in Latin America.
The Latin American Studies Interdisciplinary Minor Program (LAS) is pleased to announce Elon’s first Latin American Documentary Film Series. The series will consist of two screenings of feature-length documentaries as well as a closing event featuring José Balado-Díaz, founder and director of the Peruvian Artistic Organization DocuPerú.
The schedule of the series is as follows:
1. Screening of “When Two Worlds Collide” (Peru, US, UK, 2016) – Wednesday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Carlton Commons
2. Screening of “500 Years” (Guatemala, US, 2017) – Wednesday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. in Carlton Commons
3. Event: “Building a National Photo Album: Democracy and Media Access – The DocuPerú Experience” (screening of selected shorts films by DocuPerú and a conversation with José Balado-Díaz, its director) – Thursday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in Turner Theatre
The selected films discuss some of the most poignant social conflicts affecting the region and their screenings will be followed by a brief discussion.
All the events are free and open to the public.
