Jamane Yeager, electronic access librarian, participated in a conversation about the historic black community of Lincoln City, North Carolina.
Electronic Access Librarian Jamane Yeager recently presented at Black Communities: A Conference for Collaboration, a multi-disciplinary conference to connect academic researchers and black communities across North America.
Her presentation discussed Lincoln City, the segregated city in Kinston, North Carolina. This community of African Americans moved to Lincoln City from the farms during and after reconstruction. Lincoln City, located in a floodplain adjacent to the Neuse River, thrived and survived for many years until Hurricane Floyd (1999) completely wiped out the community.
