Doctor of Physical Therapy student Andrew Jones served as an usher and Assistant Professor Mary Kay Hannah served as an elected delegate from the North Carolina Physical Therapy Association at the American Physical Therapy Association’s 74th House of Delegates held June 25-27 in Orlando, Florida.
The NCPTA Delegation was actively involved in the APTA House of Delegates which is the member-driven governing body that directs resources, policies, positions, and projects for the greater good of the physical therapy profession’s vision: transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience.
The delegates voted on more than 50 motions on various topics including the Essential Health Benefits under the Affordable Care Act, annual PT visits, direction and supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants, and sexual harassment. The delegates voted to include rehabilitation services in the Essential Health Benefits with no arbitrary benefits.
Hannah is in her seventh year as an elected delegate and is the current vice president of the NCPTA. Jones was selected as an usher after a competitive selection process and did an outstanding job at this prestigious annual event.
