Alumni and their families gathered at Freedom Park for what has become a popular event for the chapter each summer.
The Charlotte Alumni Chapter hosted its second annual Family Cookout event on July 22. After experiencing much success and tremendous reviews from last year’s family cookout, the chapter was set to have another great summer event at Freedom Park.
The chapter provided hamburgers, hotdogs and lawn games, while the alumni guests brought plenty of side dishes and desserts for all to share. Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time enjoying the summer afternoon with Elon alumni, friends and families of all generations.
For new Chapter President Theresa Gilligan ’16, this marked the first event in her new leadership role.”Everyone was just having fun. Playing games or talking to friends, new and old. There was plenty of great food, much of it contributed by the attendees,” Gilligan said. “It was really fun to see Elon alumni from totally different areas or class years just all sit down at a table together and talk, or all start a game together. I think that’s one of the things that’s special about Elon — it bonds us all together.”
