Elon physical therapy students attend National Student Conclave

Elon University was represented at the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) National Student Conclave 2018, the only APTA conference dedicated to student physical therapists (PT) and student physical therapy assistants (PTA).

This annual conference, held Oct. 11-13 in Providence, Rhode Island, brings together PT and PTA students across the United States to provide student focused educational sessions, social activities, student board elections and community service opportunities.

​Kaylee Pobocik, a class of 2019 PT doctoral student at Elon, ran for and won the nomination for director of membership on the APTA’s National Student Board of Directors. For the next year, Pobocik will work toward increasing membership and making student PTs and PTAs aware of the value of being a member of the APTA.

“My main goal is to find the student’s individual ‘why’ – why they are a member and what value they have in membership,” Pobocik said. “I want to showcase other student’s ‘whys.’”

Being a member of the American Physical Therapy Association is important for professional leadership, mentorship, and advocacy. Elon’s representation at National Student Conclave and in the Board of Directors demonstrates the student’s willingness to be active members of their professions, strong advocates for their patients and colleagues, and engaged learners in the changing healthcare environment.
