The management information systems professor co-led the teaching program at the 2019 Academy of Marketing Science conference.
Haya Ajjan, associate professor of management information systems and director of Elon’s Center for Organizational Analytics, co-chaired a marketing analytics certificate program for faculty members at the 2019 Academy of Marketing Science annual conference in Vancouver, Canada.
The four-hour program covered the fundamentals of a good teaching model and provided faculty with information to build their analytics major or minor curriculum – course design resources, syllabi and a practical case study from HanesBrands. The hands-on experience included working with tools such as Tableau, RapidMiner and DataRobot.
Additionally, Ajjan and co-leaders Dana Harrison, Eastern Tennessee State University, and Scott Ryan, Hanesbrands, discussed the privacy and ethics of data analytics, text mining, mobile programming, open source programming tools, and the value of certification and digital badges for students.
Forty-four faculty members from a variety of universities, including Louisiana Tech University, Colorado State University, University of New Orleans, HEC Montreal and University of New Hampshire, completed the program.
