Jenny Larson, associate director of campus recreation and wellness for recreation programs and facilities, was quoted in a recent article about helping students develop leadership skills through club sports.
An article about club sports on college campuses features tips from Jenny Larson, associate director of campus recreation and wellness for recreation programs and facilities at Elon.
Campus Rec. Magazine quoted Larson in the article, "Club Sports Dos & Don'ts." The article focuses on methods to help students grow as leaders while playing club sports.
Larson's insights included the importance of early preparation, communication and staff involvement, in the success of a club sports program.
"As a club sports professional, I start the year off by collecting leadership goals and helping them get to those goals wherever they may be,” she said. “It is the leadership’s opportunity each year to grow the team or not, depending on their actions.”
Elon offers 26 club sports, ranging from baseball to ultimate frisbee. The programs allow students to compete against collegiate club teams from colleges and universities throughout the Southeast. With the help of staff advisors, each club team is formed, developed, governed and administered by elected student officers. Learn more about the university's club sports here.
