Kaye Usry, assistant professor of political science and policy studies and assistant director of the Elon University Poll, discussed North Carolina's importance in the 2020 presidential election.
The Raleigh News & Observer quoted Kaye Usry, assistant professor of political science and policy studies and assistant director of the Elon University Poll, in a recent article looking at North Carolina as a battleground state during the 2020 presidential election.
The article, "'A top-tier priority': Trump rally highlights NC's big role in picking next president," previews President Donald Trump's Wednesday visit to North Carolina and what it means about the state's role in the 2020 presidential election.
Usry discussed the importance of states like North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, for the Democratic party in 2020.
"The 2020 Democratic nominee will be under pressure to make those states blue again,” she said. “However, I expect North Carolina will still be a key state in the general election campaign. It is within reach for the Democratic nominee.”
The article also featured data from a recent Elon Poll on the race between Donald Trump and a generic Democratic candidate.
