Pianist Gregory Partain will perform at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 17 in Whitley Auditorium on the Elon University campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
His program will include works by Scarlatti, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff, concluding with Beethoven’s powerful Sonata, Op. 57, the “Appassionata.”
Partain has appeared as recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist throughout the United States during his 17-year career. His international reputation has grown with performances in Poland, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Russia and Greece.
Partain serves as professor of music and chair of the division of fine arts at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky. He has received the Bingham Award for Excellence in Teaching and is the Kentucky Music Teachers Association Commissioned Composer for 2005.
