A bench located between Smith and Carolina residence halls was dedicated Tuesday, May 3 in memory of Keith Vaughn, first shift supervisor in environmental services, who died May 3, 2004.
Assistant Chaplain Kate Colussy-Estes offered opening remarks to the assembled group of friends, family and coworkers.
“This bench dedication is something special and it is important for this greater family to rememeber our friend and colleague,” Colussy-Estes said.
Vaughn’s wife, Dot, attended the ceremony and recalled her husband’s love of fishing, as well as the friendships he made at Elon.
“He was a great person, and he was a great person to have in my life,” she said.
Memorial benches are dedicated in honor of Elon employees who die during their term of service to the university.
