Mark Courtright receives grant to adopt open textbooks for business course

The grant will support the adaptation of an open textbook for use in the Gateway to Business course.

Mark Courtright, lecturer in management in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business and Gateway to Business course coordinator, received an Open Education North Carolina faculty adoption grant for the BUS 201 Gateway to Business course, starting fall semester 2019.

​Each semester, different Love School of Business faculty members teach the introductory business course. For fall 2019 the instructors are David Moura, instructor in management, Brian Nienhaus, associate professor of business communication, Rosey Bao, assistant professor of strategic management, and Neil Saunders, adjunct instructor in management. Over the next two years, the course will incorporate the textbook "Introduction to Business" for 44 sections of the course, saving 1,056 students a projected $84,000 in textbook costs.
