Thomas Erdmann, professor of music and education, had his article, “Early Musical Experiences and Jazz Approaches to Recording and Performing, an Interview with Sophie B. Hawkins,” featured on the front cover of the Fall 2005 issue of Women of Note Quarterly.
The 6,000-word article deals with rocker Sophie B. Hawkins’ history as a percussion major at The Manhattan School of Music (marimba specialty), her unique approach to popular music performance and composition, her music videos which were banned from MTV, as well as her experiences with the biggest record companies. Her single, “As I Lay Me Down,” has the record for most consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Magazine Adult Contemporary Chart, 67 weeks.
Erdmann had his review of The Marvin Stamm/Ed Soph Project CD published in the October 2005 issue of the International Trumpet Guild Journal.
