Fake Break: What’s open, and when

The close of evening exams on Friday, Jan. 24 marks the start of "fake break" — the time between the end of Winter Term and the start of Spring Semester on Monday, Feb. 3.

The break between the undergraduate Winter Term and spring semester – sometimes referred to as “Fake Break” – begins Friday, Jan. 24 following evening exams and ends at 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3.

As a reminder, Campus Safety & Police will operate as normal during the entire break. Below are hours of student services operations during the break.

Residence Life

  • Offices remain open during the break during regular business hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Residence Halls (except apartments) close at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 and reopen Saturday, February 1 at 9 a.m. Only students who have previously applied to stay late or return early may do so. Students registered and participating in Panhellenic sorority recruitment are permitted to return on Jan. 29.

Library

  • Saturday, Jan. 25: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Sunday, Jan. 26: Closed
  • Monday & Tuesday, Jan. 27 & 28: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Health Services  is open by appointment only:

Counseling Services

  • Open during normal business hours Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., by appointment only – 336-278-7280
  • The crisis counselor on-call remains available 24/7 by contacting Campus Safety & Police Dispatch – 336-278-5555
  • If a student is experiencing a psychological emergency that is life threatening or involves imminent danger (risk of harm to self or others at any time), call 9-1-1 for immediate assistance.

BioBuses and Campus Transportation

  • No Service from Friday, Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. until 7 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3.
  • Monday, Feb. 3: All BioBuses and E-Ride services resume regular schedules at 7 a.m.
