David Runkle, senior mathematics major, received an Outstanding Math Education Student award at the N.C. Council of Teachers of Mathematics conference in Greensboro on Friday, October 14, 2005. Runkle was chosen as the central region’s most outstanding math preservice teacher. He was honored with a cash award and a plaque at the annual awards breakfast held at the Koury Convention Center.
A Fayetteville native, Runkle is a N.C. Teaching Fellow, Honors Fellow and current President of the Elon University chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honor Society.
