A new process for moving in this year means changes to traffic flow and parking lot usage as the 2020-21 academic year gets underway.
Elon’s campus will be coming alive as the Class of 2024 and returning students arrive in the coming days to begin a new academic year.
This week, Elon faculty and staff members have been making their way through the Schar Center Health Check-In to do their part to start the new year off safe and healthy. Remember — the Schar Center Health Check-In is required as the first step for students as they prepare to move into on-campus housing.
Schar Center Health Check-In Map
Starting at 8 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, the first students will begin checking in in the Schar Center Parking Lot, where they will verify they have completed the necessary steps required for them to move in. They will have their temperature checked and receive a Ready & Resilient Kit, along with more information about checking in at their residence halls.
Traffic Map for Students and Families
From Schar Center, students and their families will be heading to designated parking lots specific to each residential neighborhood, with traffic on Phoenix Drive, West Haggard Avenue and Lebanon Avenue restricted to move-in traffic, and converted to one-way. Schar Center volunteers will provide guidance on how to get from Schar Center to residence halls, and more details are available here.
Faculty and Staff Parking Map for Move-In Days
Faculty and staff arriving to campus on Friday and Saturday will face changes to parking availability, with certain parking lots reserved for move-in traffic and other lots set aside for faculty and staff parking.
Once students are settled into their new homes, they can head out to prepare for the start of classes on Wednesday, Aug. 19, by picking up their online bookstore orders.
Online Bookstore Order Pickup Map
To allow for physical distancing, pickup for orders placed online has temporarily relocated from the Barnes & Noble at Elon University Bookstore to the College Street Taphouse at 131 W. College Ave. Students must complete the Schar Center Health Check-In before being allowed to enter the building. More details can be found here.
