A recent report by ABC affiliate KMBC on a camp for German POWs during World War II located in Concordia, Kansas, featured portions of “Prisoners of Plenty,” a 2009 documentary about the camp that was produced and directed by Associate Professor of Journalism Tom Nelson.
The Veterans Day report by KMBC, located in Kansas City, Kansas, provided an overview of the camp, which held more than 4,000 prisoners between 1943 and 1945, and included interviews with veterans and locals who worked at or interacted with the camp. The report featured archival footage included in Nelson’s documentary as well as footage of interviews with prisoners at the camp.
