Elon University is among 150 top colleges and universities highlighted in the first edition of "Colleges Worth Your Money: A Guide to What America's Top Schools Can Do For You."

Elon University has been named among 150 top colleges and universities in the first edition of a new guidebook, “Colleges Worth Your Money: A Guide to What America’s Top Schools Can Do For You.”

Colleges Worth Your Money offers more than 75 key statistics about each institution, focusing on factors such as cost, admissions, career outcomes and return on investment data, to help college-bound students and families identify the best college fit for them. Each profile includes six key sections: Inside the Classroom, Outside the Classroom, Career Services, Professional Outcomes, Admission and Worth Your Money.

The guidebook highlights a number of Elon’s strengths, including undergraduate teaching, experiential learning opportunities and the university’s top-rated study abroad program.

“Nestled in the centralized Piedmont region of North Carolina, Elon University is home to 6,277 undergraduates and is—most fittingly for a school whose mascot is the Phoenix—a school on the rise,” the entry states. “Not yet an uber-selective school (over three-quarters of applicants get in), this modestly sized university is known for its quality undergraduate teaching, experiential learning opportunities, and unparalleled study abroad program. Individualized attention is available at every turn, particularly from a well-staffed and highly effective Career Services Department.”

The Colleges Worth Your Money profile of Elon focuses on the university’s commitment to experiential learning opportunities through the Elon Experiences – undergraduate research, internships, service learning, study abroad and leadership. The profile also touches on the university’s 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio and the Elon 101 course that prepares first-year students for life at Elon.

Also underscored in the guidebook is Elon’s commitment to a well-rounded experience for the entire student body. The guidebook spotlights the 90 percent of Elon students who participate in some level of volunteer service and nearly half of the student body that serves in leadership roles in Elon’s 250 student-led clubs and organizations.

Along with a number of opportunities in the classroom and across campus, the Colleges Worth Your Money guidebook presents a number of facts related to career outcomes, including each institution’s connection to recruiters, employment rates post-graduation, top employers and more. Elon’s profile focuses heavily on the Student Professional Development Center (SPDC), which brings more than 250 employers to campus and hosts 5,600 one-on-one advising appointments each year. The guide also praises the university’s impressive professional outcomes, including 95 percent of Elon graduates gaining employment, enrolling in graduate school, completing fellowships or working for service organizations, within nine months of graduation.
