Written by Benedict Carey, the article is titled “In-Laws in the Age of the Outsider.” The story examines the tensions that can be present during the holidays when a new spouse or significant other is from a different racial or cultural background.
In the article, Basirico says it is wise for family gatherings to be structured but also allow an out for those who may not feel comfortable with certain activities or events.
