The award, for nonfiction works, is sponsored by the North Carolina Literary and Historical Association (NCLHA) in cooperation with the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of North Carolina, the Historical Book Club of N.C., the Poole Foundation of Kinston, the Roanoke-Chowan Group of Writers and Allied Artists, and the N.C. Division of theAmerican Association of University Women.

The book, “Shuttle & Plow: A History of Alamance County, North Carolina,” was published by the Alamance County Historical Association in 1999. The book’s co-author was William Vincent.
