The Senior College Coffee was part of a series of Senior Week events at Elon leading up to Undergraduate Commencement on Friday, May 21.
Elon seniors gathered in the heart of campus to take part in a time-honored tradition one last time.
Wednesday morning, the campus community came together for a celebration of the Class of 2021 during the annual Senior College Coffee. The senior class continued the campus-wide tradition of gathering to enjoy coffee, baked goods and conversations with fellow students, faculty and staff.

Biochemistry major Kevin Scott ’21 used his final College Coffee as an opportunity to catch up with old friends and reminisce about four unforgettable years Under the Oaks. “I’m trying to remember every moment that I can here and then take that with me,” said Scott, who will move to Maryland after graduation to participate in a two-year fellowship with the National Institute of Health.
The College Coffee was hosted in three locations across Young Commons and Scott Plaza to give students from the School of Communications, School of Education, Love School of Business, and Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences, the chance to spend time with their classmates and professors. The group enjoyed their iced coffee, chicken biscuits and bagels while looking ahead to the excitement of Friday’s commencement ceremonies.
Finance and French double major Julia Madden admits she’s sad to be leaving the place she’s called home for the past four years, but she’s also excited about the future and ready to embark on her next journey.
“I know that the world is really big, and there’s so much that I haven’t done or seen yet,” said Madden, who will move to Washington, DC, to work for Bank of America after graduation. “And I’m excited to go out and just explore all of it and kind of take whatever life decides to throw at me.”
Senior College Coffee was part of a series of Senior Week events at Elon. Following Wednesday’s gathering, students attended the annual Baccalaureate address delivered by Valarie Kaur, civil rights activist, award-winning filmmaker, lawyer, interfaith leader and founder of the Revolutionary Love Project. Wednesday night, seniors will be treated to food, fun and fireworks at the Senior Celebration at Rhodes Stadium.
Senior Week festivities will culminate in three 2021 Undergraduate Commencement ceremonies inside Schar Center on Friday, May 21. For more information about Commencement, including schedules, ticket information and more, visit Elon’s Commencement website.
