Dave Clemmons, a noted Broadway casting director, auditioned more than 50 Elon students March 12. Details...
Clemmons was on campus auditioning students in Elon’s music theatre program for roles in “The Lost Colony.” The outdoor drama on the North Carolina coast commemorates the birth of Virginia Dare, the first English child born in the New World.
Clemmons also conducted a master class for senior music theatre students, sharing his knowledge and insight about life as a Broadway actor. “I like to bring New York down to the students,” Clemmons says. A native of Nashville, Tenn., Clemmons spent 10 years as a professional actor with leading roles in several major productions, including “Les Miserables.”
Clemmons says he is impressed with the quality of Elon’s students. “Clearly, there are some great things going on here. The students are well-prepared, and the program is aggressive and cutting-edge. I enjoy going to schools like Elon to work with students and share information,” Clemmons says.
