Wall Street Journal names Elon to top 50 list

Elon is one of 50 colleges and universities highlighted in a March 30 Wall Street Journal article. Details...

The article, by Elizabeth Bernstein, appears on the front page of the Weekend Journal section. It examines the new landscape in higher education and features American colleges and universities “where straight-A students are scrambling to get into now.”

Elon was cited as one of the schools of choice for graduating high school seniors, thanks to investments in facilities and aggressive national recruitment efforts. Colleges included on the list were cited for their excellence by guidance counselors, higher education officials and prospective students from across the nation.

Elon and Duke University were the only two North Carolina schools listed in the article. The Journal used a number of admissions factors, including middle SAT range, acceptance rate and average GPA to rate the schools.
