The party, organized by assistant athletics director Trip Durham, included a birthday cake and a rousing version of Happy Birthday, led by sports information director Matt Eviston.
The Homecoming week party marks the one-year anniversary of the mascot’s debut. The Phoenix has become a fan favorite at games and other events. It has served as an effective good will ambassador for the athletics program.
