WGHP-TV covers Elon Enterprise Academy

The Fox network affiliate in High Point, N.C., featured the academy during its 6 p.m. newscast on Thursday, Dec. 20. Details...

Videographer Matt Jensen and news anchor Carol Andrews spent several hours with students enrolled in the Elon Enterprise Academy (EEA) on Dec. 7. The two-minute segment featured interviews with Barth Strempek, associate professor of business administration, and seniors Bo Hamrick and Sue Vo.

The EEA supplements students’ classroom education in the areas of business, leisure and sports management, and music. Students link principles from the business curriculum with small entrepreneurial start-up projects, such as the marketing of music CDs and the production of publications. Students will also participate in a project which will involve the planning, marketing and operation of a major music and cultural festival to be held on the Elon campus in April 2004.

The EEA is an extension of the Entrepreneurial Leadership Experience (ELE), which Strempek developed in 1998. Students enrolled in the ELE have produced and marketed several professional quality music CDs.
