Winter Term featured in Yucatan newspaper article

Elon's Winter Term program and students enrolled in a course titled "Commerce in the Yucatan" were featured in a Feb. 10 article in Diario de Yucatan, the peninsula's largest daily newspaper. Details...

The article, which ran on the front of the paper’s Local section, is titled “Un tourismo de valores…Tocar el alma de un pueblo.” In English, the title means, “Tourism of values…To touch the soul of a people.”

Writer Blanca Zendejas Vazquez profiles the Winter Term course taught by Donna Van Bodegraven, associate professor of Spanish, and Brian Nienhaus, assistant professor of business administration. She describes the objectives of the course and praises its goal of teaching the 12 students who took the class about the culture and history of the Yucatan.

Vazquez met with the students at Van Bodegraven’s home in Merida, the Yucatan’s largest city and home of Diario de Yucatan.
