Model United Nations team competes at Harvard

Elon's Model United Nations team traveled to Boston to compete in the Harvard 2002 National Model United Nations. Details...

Sixteen Elon students took part in the competition, which attracts more than 1,600 students from top U.S. and international universities.

Rebecca Harris, a senior accounting major, won an award for distinguished effort in the UN Development Programme.

The Model United Nations is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and UN Security Council. Students prepare draft resolutions, plot strategy, negotiate with supporters and adversaries and resolve conflicts. Students do research on current global problems before playing out their roles, then “represent” the foreign policy of a particular country during the event.
