Teacher Cadets on campus March 6

Elon's North Carolina Teaching Fellows program will host 50 Teacher Cadets from five area high schools Wednesday, March 6. Details...

The Teacher Cadet program is a course for high school students interested in a career in education. Students in the class study North Carolina’s education system and what it means to teach, in addition to field experiences such as their visit to Elon.

“This is a great opportunity for all involved,” says Janice Richardson, associate professor of mathematics and associate director of the Elon Teaching Fellows program. “It allows interaction and networking between university students and high school students interested in a career in education. By attending classes on campus, Teacher Cadets will observe firsthand the challenging academic setting and supportive learning environment at Elon.”

The students, who attend Cummings, Graham, Eastern Alamance, Western Alamance and Southern Alamance high schools, will attend a breakfast reception, an Elon class and receive a tour of campus.
