A look back at select sights from around campus during a year that saw challenges, triumphs and celebrations.
Elon University is closing out another year in its history — one that was marked by academic achievement, service to the community, celebration of its students and the continued challenges that face a university community during a global pandemic.
Elon hosted the dedication of facilities including the Janice Ratliff Building and The Inn at Elon and new signature buildings — Founders Hall and IQ2 — take shape within the Innovation Quad. Unique this year were two undergraduate commencement celebrations for the Class of 2021 AND the Class of 2021, with hundreds of these recent graduations returning to campus in the fall for an in-person celebration.
Classrooms and labs continued to be homes to learning and mentoring, student-athletes saw success on the field and court, and though in smaller numbers, Elon students fanned out around the world for global experiences. Students, faculty and staff were engaged with the local community in a wide range of volunteer activities, and Elon students honed their skills and pushed their professional careers forward in internships across the country.
In short — it was another great year to be a Phoenix! Here’s to 2021, and to what lies ahead in 2022!
