Communications students ‘meet and greet’ with potential employers

Approximately 85 School of Communications students attended this week’s COM Meet and Greet, an in-person internship and job event, to discuss their career interests with several communications companies and their representatives.

The Feb. 22 event, held in Snow Family Grand Atrium, included on-site representatives from ABC11-WTVD, McKinney, Rookie Road, SportsMEDIA Technology Corp and WXII-TV. Additionally, students interviewed virtually with ESPN and Golin.

The on-campus event allowed students – many dropping in between classes – to converse with the companies regarding internship opportunities and full-time positions. A photo gallery of the Meet & Greet is available on the school’s Flickr page.

“We are excited to get back to in-person events, gathering together students and employers,” said Brooke Buffington, director of the Student Professional Development Center. “It is imperative for our students to have these opportunities to interact face to face with our organizational partners to find internships and career success.”

Held in partnership between the Student Professional Development Center and the School of Communications, the event was coordinated by Stephanie Bourland, associate director of corporate and employer relations;  Alison Doherty, assistant director of career services; Ross Wade, senior associate director of career services; Genevieve Barnes, program assistant in the School of Communications; and the school’s Internship Office.
