Status updates

The university dashboard is updated on the Healthy Elon website each weekday morning.

  • Four new COVID-19 cases were confirmed among Elon students and employees over the past week, March 16-22. This compares to four new cases the week prior.
  • As of yesterday, March 22, there were an estimated three active cases among Elon students and employees. This compares to two active cases a week ago.
  • Alamance County is in the “medium” category, and Guilford County in the “low” category on the CDC county community level tracking tool.
  • The CDC county tracking website also includes guidance for individual/household prevention behaviors and community-level prevention strategies associated with each of the levels.

Indoor mask optional policy now in effect

Elon’s indoor mask optional policy is now in effect for most campus spaces. The policy aligns with guidance from the CDC and North Carolina health officials. Elon endorses the rights of everyone to make their own personal choices about wearing masks, although masks are still required in designated campus health care spaces and for those with COVID-like symptoms. All members of the campus community should become familiar with the full details of the university’s mask policy.

Everyone should continue to carry a mask with them on campus and keep in mind that each individual has different experiences, family and medical situations, and concerns as we navigate this process. We ask the campus community to be respectful and honor requests to wear a mask and assist others on campus to protect themselves. Human Resources and Student Care and Outreach are ready to meet with members of the campus community to determine how to be helpful during this transition.

Register now for booster clinic this week or future clinics

Registration is now open for the final three on-campus COVID-19 booster clinics. The first clinic will be held this Friday, March 25, and additional clinics will be held April 8 and 29. All clinics are scheduled for 12 noon – 4 p.m. and will be held in the Ellington Center for Health and Wellness. Clinics are open to all students, faculty, and staff and participants should register in advance.

Additional information

Detailed information is always available on the Healthy Elon website, which provides important health and wellness information for students and employees, including what to do if you feel ill, test positive, or have close contact with a positive case. The site also offers responses to frequently asked questions about academics, vaccination, and employee information, as well as answers to questions related to the university mask policy and other campus protocols. Human Resources is also available to provide assistance as employees navigate COVID policy changes. Please call 336-278-5560 to reach an HR representative or email hr@elon.edu.

The next email update will be sent Wednesday, March 30, at 10:45 a.m., unless an additional message is warranted before then.
