College fair attracts area high school students

More than 2,500 local high school students attended the third annual Alamance-Burlington School System college fair, held Sept. 9-10 in Alumni Gym on the Elon campus.

Juniors and seniors from Alamance County’s six public high schools had a chance to meet with recruiters from more than 75 colleges and universities, including Elon, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Duke University and the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Elon has hosted the fair all three years, says Charmin Britt, associate director of admissions. “This is a central location for the area high schools, and the public school system uses its busses to bring their students to our campus. And our location is central for many of the colleges who send representatives to the fair.”
