Elon alumni in the Washington, D.C., area teamed up with graduates from several other colleges and universities for a Happy Hour fundraiser for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. “Love Seed Mama Jump,” a local band which perform at FedEx Field after Washington Redskins games, provided entertainment.
Held at the Clarendon Ballroom in Arlington, Va., the event drew over 40 Elon graduates, as well as alumni from NC State, UNC-Chapel Hill, Wake Forest and East Carolina. Elon alumni were the first to arrive and the last to leave, says Megan Jones ’95, a member of the National Alumni Executive Board. “The other schools in attendance were quite impressed that Elon had the highest attendance of graduates,” she reports. The event also featured a silent auction including a signed Washington Capitals hockey stick. Over $600 was raised for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
At the event, people were encouraged to give their e-mails on the sign-in sheet and send Elon their updates to make sure they know about upcoming events.
Another mixer between these same schools is planned for March at the Washington Capitals vs. Carolina Hurricanes hockey game. Tickets will be available at a reduced price.
